the Annual Gabrielle Brenninkmeyer Award

THE ANNUAL GABRIELLE BRENNINKMEYER AWARD APPLICATION

When Gabrielle Brenninkmeyer, long time Lincoln Garden Club member and fundraiser extraordinaire, moved back to her home in the Netherlands, the club established an annual award in her honor.

The $500 award is to support projects that further the club’s two-fold mission: providing community service to the town of Lincoln and providing members the opportunity to enhance and share their knowledge of such garden-related topics as horticulture, design, conservation, and beautification.

The award is open to any Lincoln resident or student of the Lincoln Public Schools. Scroll down to compete the application and then be sure to click “submit”.

The first award in 2021 was to support the planting of trees on the newly renovated school campus.

THE LINCOLN SCOUTS CODMAN FARM RAISED BED AND BENCH PROJECT

Lincoln Boy Scout Troop 127 worked with Codman Farm to construct a group of raised beds with side benches for an outdoor education center. The beds will be planted with native plants and other pollinators and accessible for those with limited physical agility or mobility. See the  design sheet sketch below. The area also will serve as a meeting area for the many groups visiting the farm.

The troop leader was Mark Soukup; the benches are his son Connor’s Eagle Scout project. Construction is planned for  spring of 2022. Materials including pressure treated wood are expensive. While Codman Farm has some funding available, additional support is needed. The annual $500 Gabrielle Brenninkmeyer Award has helped to make this worthy project possible.
